Trust

Where do you place your trust? A lot of times we place our trust in people, circumstances, wealth or our own abilities. God wants us to place our trust in Him. According to merriam-webster.com, trust means the reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.

Sometimes we trust other people and not God. We think people will give us joy and satisfaction that only God can give. Whenever I put my trust in people, I will sometimes be let down. Putting your trust in other people makes you dependent upon them. People will fail you. This leads to disappointment. People cannot provide the love that only Jesus can give.

When you put your trust in circumstances, your happiness is based on how good or bad the circumstance is. Circumstances don't define us. Instead of looking at our circumstances for peace, we can look to Jesus as we trust Him. Reliance and trust in God bring peace and contentment. In Proverbs 3:5-6, the Bible says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

Trusting God is a daily decision. We have to trust His character and know that He is working all things together for our good. Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."

It is hard to trust God whenever things and situations are difficult. We may even question God's love. To put our trust in Him, is to believe that He will work everything out in His time. His timing is perfect.

During hardship and disappointment, run to Jesus and put your trust in Him. He will never fail You. He promises to be Your constant companion and friend.

In the midst of my depression, I had to trust that God was going to bring me through my sadness and despair. Even though God used doctors, a counselor, medication and loved ones, I could not place my complete trust in them. These things could only help so much. God is my ultimate healer. He alone is who I put my trust.

"Trust and obey, for there's no other way

To be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey." John H. Sammis
